How Did Hairstylist Latisha Chong Die?
Chong lived with a diagnosis of Stage 4 breast cancer and Hodgkin’s lymphoma for years before her death in July 2022. She is survived by her son, two sisters and parents. Born in Trinidad and Tobago, she moved to the United States at the age of six together with her family. Celebrity and model hairstylist Latisha Chong passed away at 32 after fighting a years-long battle with breast cancer. She was among the forefront faces of the innovative black women who have changed the fashion world with their impact.
What Happened To Hairstylist Latisha Chong
Chong’s sister, Afesha Chong told The New York Times: “Black hair is a family thing in our neighborhood. Everyone comes to the salons on Saturday, and you learn to nurture the hair but also the soul. Latisha picked that up quickly.” Chong was part of a generation of young black women who changed the face of fashion designing hairstyles for celebrities in the fashion industry as well as athletes including Williams, and actress Tracee Ellis Ross.
